They come straight from the question bank. Pick an answer to see the working and why each wrong answer is wrong.
A small business purchased inventory for $720. The business owner marked up the inventory by 45% to establish the selling price. What was the selling price?
This question asks for the price after adding a 45% markup to the cost. Find 45% of $720 and add it to $720, or multiply directly by 1.45.
Shortcut: Multiply directly: .
Why not the others
- AYour pick$324 is only the markup amount, not the selling price. Add it to the $720 cost.
- BYour pick$396 subtracts the $324 markup instead of adding it (). A markup raises the price, so add it.
- CYour pick$765 adds $45 instead of 45% of the cost. Find 45% of $720 first.
Pick an answer. No sign-up, nothing to pay.
A driver goes 48 miles east, then turns south and goes 36 miles to a depot. What is the straight-line distance, in miles, from the start to the depot?
The east and south trips meet at a right angle. The straight line from start to depot is the long side of that right triangle.
Shortcut: The sides 36 and 48 are 3 and 4 times 12, so the line is .
Why not the others
- AYour pick12 comes from subtracting the two distances (48 - 36). The straight-line distance needs squares, a sum and a square root.
- BYour pick42 is half of 84, found by averaging the two distances. Use the Pythagorean theorem instead.
- DYour pick84 comes from adding the two distances (48 + 36). That is the distance driven, not the straight line.
Pick an answer. No sign-up, nothing to pay.
A dental assistant counted the number of cleanings performed each day last week: 6, 8, 4, 9, and 8. What is the mode of this data set?
The mode is the number that appears most frequently in a list. Looking at the list, 8 appears twice while all other numbers appear only once.
Shortcut: Look for the only repeated value in the list.
Why not the others
- BYour pick7 is the mean of the numbers, found by dividing the sum 35 by 5.
- CYour pick5 is the range of the numbers, found by subtracting 4 from 9.
- DYour pick4 is the minimum value in the data set, not the most frequent value.
Pick an answer. No sign-up, nothing to pay.
What you get
Everything in the Math pack
It all opens in your web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to install.
700+ practice questions
Sorted by topic and difficulty. Every question has step-by-step working and a "why not" note for each wrong answer, so a miss teaches you something.
12+ timed mocks
Part 1 without a calculator, a 3-minute break, then Part 2 with the calculator: 115 minutes in all, timed like test day. Each mock ends in an estimated practice range by topic.
An estimated practice range is not a prediction of an official score.

How it works
Three steps, at your own pace
- 1
Buy once
One payment, no subscription. Your study area opens right away, and we email you a link to get back in.
- 2
Practice, then take mocks
Do topic sets in short sessions on your phone. When you feel ready, take a full timed mock in the test format.
- 3
The plan puts your weak topics first
Each mock gives you an estimated practice range by topic. When you build or rebuild your day-by-day plan, it puts the weak topics first.
Is it right for you?
Who this pack is for, and who it isn't for
A good fit if you…
- are taking the GED® Math test and want lots of practice in the real format
- want to know why a wrong answer is wrong, not just the right letter
- study in short sessions on your phone, around work and family
- want a clear plan instead of guessing what to study next
Not the right fit if you…
- want material made by the test maker. Prepanchor is independent; GED Testing Service's own free practice is linked below.
- are starting math from zero. Every answer is explained, but this isn't a beginner course that teaches arithmetic from the start.
- want a live tutor or a class at set times.
What format is it?
Everything runs in your web browser: questions, mocks, the study plan and the flashcards made from your mistakes. The guides are PDFs you can download and keep.
How long can I use it?
12 months from the day you buy. The PDFs stay yours after that.
Which devices work?
Any recent phone, tablet or computer with a web browser. There's no app to install.
What if something doesn't work?
Write to us. If something on our side is broken, we fix it, and if we can't fix it, we refund you. We also refund a double charge or a missing part. Refunds are never tied to test results. How refunds work.
Is Prepanchor part of the GED® test?
No. Prepanchor is an independent publisher, not affiliated with GED Testing Service or the American Council on Education. The questions and explanations are our own.
Is there a Spanish version?
Yes. The Spanish Math pack is written in Spanish for the Spanish GED® test, with its own questions and mocks. Ver el paquete de Matemáticas
Can I switch to the bundle later?
